Tom McEvoy and the No Smoking Poker Tournament
Tom McEvoy was born on November 14, 1944. He grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tom is an author and a skilled poker player.
He was by profession an accountant, however, after losing his job in 1978, Tom focused his attention on playing poker for good. He got his first taste of the game when he was just five years old playing with his friends.
McEvoy got the gold bracelet in the Main Event at the World Series of Poker 2003 edition. At present Tom do engaged the game regularly. His one-on-one duel with Rod Peate hold the record for the longest mano y mano battle in the history of WSOP tournament until it was surpassed lately during the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E occasion in 2006 by Andy Bloch and Chip Reese. In 2002 McEvoy talked to Benny Behnen and convinced him to hold the WSOP tournament a non-smoking event by coming to terms that in exchange he will gave Behnen free poker lessons.
During his career, McEvoy authored in addition to co-authoring several poker books. These players who work with Tom in publishing the books include: T. J. Cloutier, Don Vines, Brad Daugherty, and Max Stern. McEvoy is a regular writer for CardPlayer Magazine as well as a PokerStars.com distinguished representative.
